If you love brownies that are rich, chocolatey and extra fudgy in the middle, these Nutella Swirl Brownies are going to be hard to resist. They have crackly tops, melty chocolate chips and ribbons of creamy Nutella swirled right through the batter.
They’re easy enough for an everyday dessert but definitely pretty enough to bring to a party, potluck or family get-together. Just be careful not to overbake them—the slightly gooey center is what makes these brownies so good!
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Bake Time: 28–34 minutes
Makes: 16 brownies
Ingredients
- ½ c. unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ c. granulated sugar
- ½ c. packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- ¾ c. all-purpose flour
- ½ c. unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ¾ c. Nutella, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a little overhang on the sides.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs and vanilla. Whisk well until the mixture looks glossy.
- Add flour, cocoa powder and salt. Stir just until combined. Don’t overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips and ½ c. Nutella.
- Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Drop small spoonfuls of the remaining ¼ c. Nutella over the top. Gently swirl it through the batter with the tip of a butter knife. Don’t over-swirl—you want those pretty ribbons of Nutella to stay visible.
- Bake for 28–34 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs rather than wet batter.
- Let cool completely in the pan before lifting out and cutting into squares.
Little Trick
Warm the ¼ c. Nutella for the swirl for about 10–15 seconds before spooning it over the batter. It’ll swirl much more easily and give you those pretty ribbons across the top.
Don’t overbake! Pull the brownies when the center looks slightly underdone. They’ll continue setting as they cool, which is what gives them that dense, fudgy center.
