Steel Magnolias Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Cake

A simple Southern dessert made famous by Steel Magnolias. This nostalgic recipe comes together with just three ingredients and bakes into a sweet, old-fashioned cake that’s perfect served warm with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 (15-ounce) can fruit cocktail, undrained

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, stir together the self-rising flour and sugar.
  4. Add the entire can of fruit cocktail, including all of the juice. Stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake is bubbling around the edges.
  7. Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Optional Add-Ins

  • Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before baking.
  • Fold in ½ cup chopped pecans.
  • Top with vanilla ice cream.

Serve With

Vanilla ice cream, fresh whipped cream, or a drizzle of heavy cream.
