Cook Time: 10 minutes
Chill Time: 2 hours
Yield: 36 small squares
Ingredients
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ⅛ teaspoon fine sea salt
- 2½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- ¾ cup chopped toasted pecans
- Flaky sea salt, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides.
- In a heavy saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, butter, and sea salt over medium-low heat. Stir constantly until the butter has melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the mixture is hot and just begins to gently bubble around the edges. Avoid boiling rapidly.
- Remove from the heat and immediately stir in both kinds of chocolate chips. Continue stirring until completely smooth and glossy.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Fold in the toasted pecans.
- Pour the fudge into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- If desired, sprinkle with a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt and a few extra chopped pecans.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until completely firm.
- Lift the fudge from the pan using the parchment paper and cut into small squares with a sharp knife.
From My Kitchen to Yours 🤍
Every Christmas, Nana made homemade fudge. It wasn’t truly the holiday season until there was a tin of rich chocolate fudge waiting on the kitchen counter for family and friends to enjoy. This recipe keeps that tradition alive with a few little touches that make it extra creamy, extra chocolatey, and perfect for sharing.
Nana’s Tip ❤️
Use good-quality chocolate chips and stir gently until completely smooth. Let the fudge chill fully before cutting for clean, bakery-style squares.
Delicious Add-Ins
- Chopped walnuts instead of pecans
- Mini marshmallows folded in after the chocolate melts
- Crushed peppermint candies sprinkled on top
- Toasted coconut
