Glazed Apple Cinnamon Cream Cheese Danish

Golden, flaky puff pastry layered with sweet cream cheese, warm cinnamon apples, and finished with a generous drizzle of vanilla glaze. These bakery-style danishes are surprisingly easy to make and perfect for cozy fall mornings, brunches, or dessert.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Bake Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Servings: 4 individual danishes

Ingredients

For the Danishes

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 medium Honeycrisp or Gala apple, peeled and diced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

For the Vanilla Glaze

  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are just tender. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  4. Unfold the puff pastry and gently roll it into a rectangle, if needed. Cut into 4 slightly uneven rectangles for a homemade bakery look.
  5. Using a knife, lightly score a ½-inch border around each rectangle without cutting all the way through.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly inside each border.
  7. Spoon the cinnamon apples over the cream cheese, allowing a few pieces to naturally fall toward the edges for a rustic look.
  8. Brush the pastry borders with the beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and deep golden brown.
  10. Let cool for about 10 minutes.
  11. Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle generously over the warm danishes, letting some glaze drip over the edges for that fresh-from-the-bakery finish.

Tips

  • Honeycrisp, Gala, Pink Lady, or Fuji apples all work well.
  • Don’t overcook the apples—they should still hold their shape after baking.
  • Serve warm with coffee or hot cider.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Warm in the oven or air fryer for the best texture.
