Creamy Parmesan Rice

This Creamy Parmesan Rice is rich, buttery, cheesy, and incredibly easy to make. Simmered in chicken broth and finished with plenty of freshly grated Parmesan, it’s a cozy side dish that pairs perfectly with chicken, steak, pork, seafood, or roasted vegetables. Simple ingredients, restaurant-quality flavor!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups long-grain white rice
  • 3¾ cups chicken broth
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 1½ cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the rice and cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently, until lightly toasted.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20–22 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
  6. Remove from the heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until smooth and creamy.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley and an extra sprinkle of Parmesan before serving.
