Apple Filling
- 6–7 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or a mix)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Crisp Topping
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup light brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup cold butter, cubed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss together the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour until evenly coated.
- Spread the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.
