Patriotic Rice Krispie Treat Stars

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Cool Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 12 star treats

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips or white candy melts (optional, for drizzling)
  • Red, white & blue sprinkles

Instructions

Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and a large star-shaped cookie cutter.

In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.

Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Divide the marshmallow mixture evenly into three bowls. Leave one bowl plain, tint one bowl red with gel food coloring, and tint the third bowl blue.

Add 2 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to each bowl and gently stir until evenly coated.

Press each color mixture into sections of the prepared baking dish, placing the colors side by side to create a fun patriotic look. Gently press with a buttered spatula or wax paper until even.

Allow the treats to cool for about 30 minutes.

Use the greased star cookie cutter to cut out star-shaped treats.

If desired, drizzle with melted white chocolate and immediately decorate with red, white, and blue sprinkles.

Let the chocolate set before serving.

Tips

  • Grease your cookie cutter with butter or nonstick spray before each cut for clean edges.
  • Gel food coloring creates bright colors without making the mixture too sticky.
  • Save the leftover scraps for snack bites or ice cream toppings.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days for the best texture.
